Atmospheric Science

Department Overview
Atmospheric science is an earth science that includes topics as diverse as weather forecasting, climate change, air quality, mountain weather, marine weather, EL Nino, the ozone hole, ice ages and the Earth's weather and climate from the tropics to the poles. It considers problems that are both scientifically challenging and critical for the welfare of modern society. Atmospheric science majors are prepared for a range of career options including weather forecasting, environmental science, meteorology, TV weather reporting, marine and aviation sciences, science education, further graduate study or a variety of alternative career paths.
